Biteguards (*by prof. Hinz)
These replace the pacifier and avoid thumbsucking.
Thumb / and pacifier sucking gives a recure feeling to the children.
However, this sucking can cause an open bite. (The teeth cannot tear food in the front) Swallowing can become a problem and speak deficiencies such as lisping are the result.
Children in these situation often become mouthbreathers and often suffer from colds and have excessive calalus.
Around the age of 3 years, children can receive a biteguard that supports the lips and prevent the tougue from goingin betwenn the frontteeth. In this way, the open bite can close.
